After three year hiatus, Kal Rotary’s Dream Auction is back

After a year-three hiatus caused by the COVID pandemic, Kalamalka Rotary's Annual Dream Auction will be back this fall.

The 39th Annual Dream Auction fundraiser, which raised $340,000 the last time it was held in person, takes place, Nov. 18, with early bird tickets available until Sept. 1.

With a history that spans back nearly four decades, organizers are enthusiastic the auction is returning to a live format once again.

"Our live events have always been legendary. We can't wait to witness the incredible support and camaraderie of our community, including our generous business donors, sponsors and the enthusiastic attendees who make the Dream Auction the biggest fundraising event in Vernon each year," Dream Auction chair Brian Reid said in a media release.

Billed as an evening of "elegance, excitement, and philanthropy" this year's theme is "Back to Black."

"This is your opportunity to be part of something extraordinary, all while making a positive impact in our community," the release said.

Over the years the fundraiser has raised more than $4.4 million for various local and international projects.

Even during the pandemic when the event was held virtually, it still pulled in more than $150,000 for good causes.

"We deeply appreciate the unwavering support of this community, and we know we can count on them once again," Kal Rotary President Tom Lewis said in the release. "It is through the generosity of others that we can make a meaningful impact on numerous non-profit organizations."

This year's event will be held at the Vernon Lodge and Convention Centre and will see auctioneer Don Raffan back on stage taking the bids for an array of good on offer.

Along with the auction, there's a four-course meal and entertainment from the 11-piece party/dance band the Legendary Lake Monsters.

Early bird tickets cost $225 per person and go on sale, Aug. 1, with the price increasing on Sept. 1.
