Climber rescued after getting injured at Kelowna Crags

A rock climber who injured himself at the Kelowna Crags was safely transported to the hospital thanks to the response by Central Okanagan Search and Rescue.

The team was called to the area yesterday, July 21, by B.C. Ambulance, according to a release from COSAR.

The Kelowna Crags are located in the Johns Family Nature Conservancy Regional Park.

Fifteen COSAR members – including the medical, E-bike and UTV teams – were joined by three personnel from B.C. Ambulance.

The rescuers located the injured climber and brought him to an ambulance that was waiting to take him to the Kelowna General Hospital.

"Earlier this year we practiced in the same area with the same equipment on the same type of call,” Search manager Duane Tresnich said in the release. “Today everything came together to make this rescue go very smoothly. We wish the young man a speedy recovery.”
