Tropical Storm Ida expected to stall in Atlantic; tropical depression dissipates over Mexico
MIAMI – Tropical Storm Ida is expected to stall in the open Atlantic and is not a threat to land.
The storm’s maximum sustained winds Monday night were about 45 mph (75 kph). The U.S. National Hurricane Center says little change in strength is expected over the next couple of days. It is forecast to slow down and change position very little in the coming days.
Ida is centred about 915 miles (1,470 kilometres) east-northeast of the northern Leeward Islands and is moving north-northwest near 5 mph (7 kph).
Meanwhile, a tropical depression that moved from the Pacific over Mexico has dissipated.
