Kamloops police looking for help in finding witness to large brush fire
Firefighters doused a large brush fire in the 300 block of St. Paul Street in Kamloops around 5 p.m. yesterday, Aug. 7, but now police need some help finding someone in the area when it started.
Police want to speak to a man who was seen in the area at the time of the fire. A news release was careful not to call him a suspect. He is described as Caucasian, in his 50’s, wearing grey sweatpants, and a backpack.
“Thankfully, the fire was quickly extinguished preventing damage to any nearby businesses,” Kamloops RCMP Staff Sgt. Janelle Shoihet said in a press release. “This is however very concerning given the very dry conditions throughout the entire region.”
Anyone with information about this man, the fire or has video footage is asked to contact the Kamloops RCMP at 250-828-3000 and cite file 2023-28282.
