
Swedish forward Joakim Nygard signs with Edmonton Oilers
EDMONTON – The Edmonton Oilers have signed forward Joakim Nygard to a one-year, entry-level contract.
Nygard, 26, has just completed his seventh season in the Swedish Hockey League, all with Farjestad BK.
The six-foot, 179-pound native of Stockholm, Sweden had 35 points (21 goals, 14 assists) in 52 games last season. He added 10 points in 14 playoff games.
Nygard also appeared in 11 games with the Swedish national team last season, posting five points.
