Westsyde Community Centre closing in advance of planned repairs

KAMLOOPS – With work set to begin shortly at Westsyde pool, the community centre is closing down as the site is prepared.

The centre will close at 10 a.m., July 22 for the long-awaited repairs to the building which houses Westsyde pool and a workout room. It won’t open again until sometime in early 2017, when the repairs and renovations are anticipated to be complete. The city's capital projects manager Darren Crundwell has previously said the aim is for project completion on Jan. 9.

Updates on the progress at the centre will be available on the city’s website.

The pool was the subject of public discussion and a petition after a leak was found in the roof and estimates for repairs came back higher than initially expected. After consulting the community city council voted to repair the pool.
