Pedestrian struck and killed on highway in Similkameen

A 48-year-old South Okanagan woman was killed walking on Highway 3 in Cawston last night.

The woman was seen walking in the middle of the northbound lane in the 1700 block of Highway 3 at around 9:30 p.m. yesterday, Aug. 14, according to an RCMP media release.

She was hit by a passing vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene.

Police say there's no evidence to suggest the driver was impaired.

Along with RCMP, the BC Coroners Service is investigating.

Anyone who witnessed this collision, or has any further information, is asked to contact Keremeos RCMP at 250-499-5511.
