Wildfire in Kelowna’s Mission Creek park quickly extinguished

A small wildfire was broke out today in one of Kelowna’s most popular parks.

The fire was reported at around 10 a.m. today, Aug. 16 in Mission Creek Regional Park, according to a regional district media release.

Firefighters from the city and BC Wildfire Service brought the fire under control.

A section of the park remains closed on the south side of Mission Creek eastward on the Soopolallie Trail.

Crews remain on site to keep an eye out for fire activity.

The cause of the blaze is under investigation.
