RCMP investigating Kelowna homicide; suspect arrested

Police have a suspect in custody in connection to a homicide in Kelowna's Rutland neighbourhood last night.

Officers were called to a home in the 300 block of Hardie Road in the late evening hours yesterday, Aug. 21, to a report of a person with life-threatening injuries, according to an RCMP media release.

The victim later died from their injuries.

Officers with the Kelowna Serious Crime Unit are investigating and RCMP say the homicide is “considered isolated and there’s no risk to the public.”

Police are providing few details about the homicide to the public. They don’t say how the victim died, nor do they identify the victim in any way.

“The investigation is in its early stages and as such no further information will be disclosed at this time,” RCMP said in the release.
