City councillor fed up with Twitter ‘porn bots’ abusing #Kamloops

KAMLOOPS – A Kamloops city councillor is calling on Twitter to better monitor the #Kamloops hashtag, after weeks of "porn-bots" plaguing the tag.

Donovan Cavers posted a screenshot of his email to the social media giant on Twitter yesterday, July 18, and asked fellow Kamloopians to do the same.

"About two weeks ago it seems like some sort of porn-bots decided to inundate our hashtag with offensive, pornographic tweets," Cavers wrote in his email.

The tweets generally post a link to a site where you can pick which kind of naked women you want to see.

In his email, Cavers goes on to say that he has reported more than 40 pornographic accounts abusing the hashtag.

"People of all ages use the Kamloops hashtag," Cavers says. "Is there anything that can be done to prevent this pornographic content from being tweeted here?"

Cavers declined to comment on the matter.
