Boy, 9, identified by coroner as victim of ATV accident in B.C. Interior

KELOWNA, B.C. – The coroners service has named the nine-year-old boy who died as a result of an ATV accident in British Columbia’s Interior.

Liam Smith was operating the vehicle on his family’s property in Celista, a small community on the north shore of Shuswap Lake on Sept. 12.

The coroner says the ATV rolled and Smith was trapped underneath the vehicle.

Smith was flown by air ambulance to BC Children’s Hospital in Vancouver but died from his injuries the following day.

The death remains under investigation by the coroner and RCMP.
