Most actively traded companies on the TSX

Some of the most active companies traded Friday on the Toronto Stock Exchange:

Toronto Stock Exchange (13,378.57, up 39.90 points):

Bombardier Inc. (TSX:BBD.B). Aerospace, rail equipment. Up 13 cents, or 8.90 per cent, to $1.59 on 14.8 million shares.

Trican Well Service Ltd. (TSX:TCW). Oil and gas. Down 39 cents, or 27.27 per cent, to $1.04 on 8.2 million shares. Trican Well Service Ltd. says it has an agreement in principle with its lenders that will put the company in a better financial position. As part of the agreement, expected to come into force before the end of October, Trican’s revolving credit facility from its bank lenders will be reduced to a maximum of $410 million from $575 million.

First Quantum Minerals Ltd. (TSX:FM). Miner. Down seven cents, or 1.26 per cent, to $5.47 on 5.6 million shares.

B2Gold Corp. (TSX:BTO). Miner. Down 10 cents, or 6.33 per cent, to $1.48 on 4.9 million shares.

Barrick Gold Corp. (TSX:ABX). Miner. Up three cents, or 0.34 per cent, to $8.75 on 4.7 million shares.

Encana Corp. (TSX:ECA). Oil and gas. Down 10 cents, or 1.12 per cent, to $8.83 on 4.6 million shares.

Companies reporting major news:

BlackBerry Ltd. (TSX:BB). Wireless communications. Down 72 cents, or 7.69 per cent, to $8.64 on 3.3 million shares. BlackBerry missed already low expectations on Friday as the technology company released financial results that showed it’s still struggling to turn around its business. The Canadian smartphone maker reported US$51 million of net income for the three months ended Aug. 29, which was an improvement on the year-earlier net loss of US$207 million, and positive cash flow.
