VERNON – Officials will return to BX Creek Trail Park today looking for clues as to how a fire started in the area.
Vernon RCMP Sgt. Mike Moyer says the fire that started just before 10 p.m. July 22 is suspicious.
"Vernon Fire investigator will be examining the areas of origin to determine the nature of the fire," he says in a release. "No structures, vehicles, residence or injuries were reported."
The park remains closed off today, says Bill Wacey, chief of the BX-Swan Lake Fire Department.
RCMP investigators are asking for public assistance and would like to speak to any witness or anyone who may have information regarding this matter, they ask that anyone with information call the Vernon RCMP at 250-545-7171 or via Crimestoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
