iN PHOTOS: Cheeky Christmas elves up to mischief in Kamloops, Okanagan

Putting an Elf on a Shelf around the house is a fun tradition for many families during the holiday season and features a mischievous elf who is notorious for causing trouble.

The elf is part of a newer Christmas tradition that was started by an American woman and her twin daughters in 2005 who created a kit that comes with an elf and a story book.

The story goes the elves are scouts for Santa, reporting on children’s behaviour and are to be found in new hiding spots in the home every morning for roughly a month leading up to Christmas day. Kids can’t touch the elf or he loses his magic and the elf can’t move while the kids are awake.

There are numerous ideas for parents on many social media platforms to set up creative scenes for the elves, and some parents really get into the spirit of it.

Check out these creative Elf on the Shelf scenes from families in Kamloops and the Okanagan.
