Police catch up with dangerously driven stolen pickup in Kamloops

A Kamloops elementary school was locked down this afternoon as police chased down suspected truck thieves.

Police started receiving calls about a stolen pickup truck heading from Vernon to Kamloops at around 2 p.m. today, Dec. 18, according to an RCMP media release.

The stolen truck was found on fire at the Sahali mall.

RCMP said an elementary school in the area was placed on a hold and secure as officers chased down the suspects with the help of a police dog.

The suspects are known to police and remain in custody as the investigation continues.
