SICAMOUS – The body of a Calgary man who went missing following a boat crash Saturday night has been pulled from Shuswap Lake near Sicamous by RCMP divers.
The 45-foot boat crashed into a big rock in Hungry Cove near Sicamous at around 9:30 p.m. throwing the 51-year-old operator of the vessel into the water.
A second man, 45, was below decks when the crash happened and was able to get help from some passing house boaters that night. He was taken to hospital in Kelowna where he continues to recover from his injuries.
Two dogs on the boat were also rescued.
RCMP weren’t notified about the boat crash until Sunday morning and started a search immediately for the missing man. The police helicopter searched from above while the RCMP dive team looked under water.
The missing man’s body was found Monday morning.
His name won’t be released until his family are contacted.
Both the RCMP and the B.C. Coroners Service are investigating.
