Paramedics, retired nurse unable to revive woman pulled from Mabel Lake

MABEL LAKE – The B.C. Coroners Service is investigating after a woman died at Mabel Lake Provincial Park over the weekend. 

Cpl. Trevor Tribes with the Lumby RCMP detachment says a 45-year-old Calgary woman was swimming in the lake Sunday, July 24, when she went into medical distress, including difficulty breathing and feeling unwell.

She was rushed to shore where a retired nurse performed CPR until B.C. Ambulance Crews arrived and attempted to revive her. 

“Sadly, despite the efforts of all concerned, the woman was not revived and died at the scene,” Tribes says.

The death is not considered suspicious in any way, and has been turned over to the B.C. Coroners Service for investigation.

The name of the woman is not being released.

Mabel Lake Provincial Park is located just north east of the Village of Lumby.
