Kamloops bus driver fired after discrimination allegations

A Kamloops bus driver has been fired following allegations of discrimination against a passenger.

B.C. Transit Spokesperson Meribeth Burton said the driver gave 'preferential treatment' to a transit user against policy. Burton didn't discuss the details of the allegations.

"From our understanding, the operator had suggested to the student that he didn't know him," Burton said.

She said everyone is equally entitled to ride public transit and added that the incident was unacceptable. The driver is no longer employed with First Canada, the driver's employer.
