Queen Elizabeth II to host President Xi of China at Buckingham Palace in October

LONDON – Buckingham Palace officials say the president of China and his wife will make a state visit to Britain from Oct. 20 to Oct. 23.

President Xi Jinping and his wife will be hosted by Queen Elizabeth II and her husband Prince Philip at Buckingham Palace. Plans for a visit had been announced but the dates were not revealed until Monday.

The announcement follows a major trip by UK Treasury chief George Osborne to China to push for more Chinese investment in Britain.

The last Chinese state visit to Britain was in 2005. Prince William travelled to China in March as an official envoy of the government.
