Prominent member of South Okanagan wine industry accused of sexually assaulting migrant worker

RCMP in Oliver are encouraging victims to come forward after a prominent member of the South Okanagan wine industry allegedly sexually assaulted an employee.

The member of the wine industry is accused of sexually assaulting a migrant worker from Mexico. Police believe there are more victims or witnesses, and are asking them to come forward.

“Considering the seriousness of this allegation, and the potential for additional victims, police are reaching out to the community to speak with those who have yet to come forward,” RCMP spokesperson Cpl. James Grandy said in a media release issued today, Jan. 5.

“If you have been a victim, or have any information, we’re encouraging you to speak with us.”

RCMP said there's likely a language barrier so it has Spanish speaking officers available to assist.

Police aren't releasing any more details about case only saying its an ongoing investigation.

If you have been a victim, or have additional information, contact the Oliver RCMP at 250-498-3422, and quote file 2023-5996.
