Dangerous motorcycle driver narrowly misses cars on Highway 1

TAPPEN – A motorcycle driver is facing a ticket and some minor injuries after a crash on Highway 1 last week.

Staff Sgt. Scott West of Salmon Arm RCMP said in a release that police and ambulance responded to a collision on Highway 1 near Schneider Place in Tappen, July 22.

An eastbound motorcycle was travelling on the road in the rain and failed to slow for traffic in front of it.

The motorcycle narrowly missed rear ending a car and the rider chose to take "evasive action" according to the release.

The motorcycle operator then lost control and laid the bike down on the road, again narrowly missing a second car that had also slowed in traffic.

"The operator of the motorcycle sustained non life threatening injuries," Scott said in the release. The driver was served a ticket under the Motor Vehicle Act for an equipment defect on the motor cycle.
