Several Penticton businesses report break and enters

PENTICTON – Penticton RCMP dealt with a rash of commercial break and enters last week in the Peach City.

Community policing coordinator Rick Dellebuur says police responded to a break-in at the Penticton Legion overnight Tuesday, July 19.

Police arrived to find a window in the building smashed and several impaired men on the street. A man seen on the roof of the building when police arrived and he tried to run away but was caught by police. He spent several hours in the detachment jail in order to sober up and was released on a promise to appear after being charged with break and enter and mischief.

Police also responded to the following incidents:

• On July 25, Berry & Smith Trucking Ltd. reported the theft of several Petro-Canada card lock gas cards taken from a number of school buses parked on the company’s lot on Warren Avenue. The cards had $3,000 worth of gas charged to them from the Petro-Canada card lock facility on Okanagan Avenue. The cards were believed to have been stolen on July 22. Police are seeking a black pickup truck with a faded canopy and a large tank in the back.
• A break and enter was reported July 25 at the Toro and Feed outlet on Industrial Avenue sometime overnight on Sunday. The business’s glass door was broken, with two Toro gas trimmers and two Toro hedge trimmers reported stolen.
• Just Zumba Fitness reported a break-and-enter at their Fairview Road location on July 22. The front door had been jimmied and a cash box and laptop taken. The theft is believed to have occurred sometime between July 15 and 16.
