Missing Japanese woman studying in Kelowna found dead

A 20-year-old Japanese woman reported missing while studying in Kelowna has been found dead.

Mia Saito was found deceased after flying from Kelowna to Vancouver on Jan. 7.

RCMP put out a press release asking for the public’s help to locate her on Jan. 8.

She may have been going through a crisis because she made some concerning comments before she went missing, according to the press release.

A social media post on Jan. 12 reported she had passed away.

“Tragically she was found deceased. Her death doesn’t appear to be the result of a crime,” Const. Tania Visintin from the Vancouver Police Department said in an email to iNFOnews.ca.

Police have not revealed any more information at this time.
