UPDATE: Firearm seized outside North Shore home after gunshots fired

KAMLOOPS – RCMP confirm a firearm was seized outside of a North Shore home after gunshots were fired earlier this morning.

RCMP say at about 7:30 a.m., July 27, they recieved numerous reports of shots being fired at a home in the 900-block of 13 Street near Tranquille Road.

A firearm was seized outside of the home, but Kamloops RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Jodi Shelkie says in a media release it is "unknown at this time if this was the weapon used to fire at the residence."

Three people from inside the house were detained for safety and for investigation, but they were later released without charges, she says.

No one was injured.

Shelkie says the residence is known to police and it is believed this was a targeted incident, adding there is no danger to the general public.

"Witnesses saw approximately three suspects running from the residence just after the shots were fired," Shelkie says in the release. "The only definite description available at this time is all three were wearing hoodies."

The RCMP is asking anyone with information to call the Kamloops RCMP at 250-828-3000 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
