Timeline of five family members killed in southern Manitoba

CARMAN, Man. – RCMP say a woman, her three young children and a teen relative were found dead Sunday at different locations in southern Manitoba. The woman’s partner, 29-year-old Ryan Howard Manoakeesick of Carman, has been charged with five counts of first-degree murder.

Here is a timeline of the police response to the killings. All times are local:

7:30 a.m.

Officers are called to a report of a hit and run on Highway 3, south of Carman, where they find the body of a 30-year-old woman in a ditch.

10 a.m.

Officers are called to a burning vehicle on Highway 248, northeast of Carman in the Rural Municipality of Cartier, where they discover three dead children. Police later learn the six-year-old girl, four-year-old boy and two-month-old girl are the children of the dead woman.

Officers take a man at the scene into custody. Police say the accused, the woman’s common-law partner, had removed the children from the vehicle.

Later in the day

Further investigation leads officers to the family’s home in Carman, where they find the body of the woman’s 17-year-old niece.
