Rogers, partners rebrand digital magazine service as ‘Texture by Next Issue’

TORONTO – Rogers Media and its partners are updating their digital magazine service, which is being renamed Texture by Next Issue.

One of the new features is a “curated” collection of stories selected by Texture’s editorial team and highlighted for readers. There’s also early access to certain top stories before the print versions are on newsstands.

Since it was launched several years ago, Next Issue has provided access to more than 100 digital versions of dozens of mainstream magazines for a single monthly subscription price.

The new Texture version of the service, which became available Thursday for Apple iOS, Android and Windows 8 devices, will continue to have two levels of pricing: C$9.99 per month for the basic service and C$14.95 for the premium service.

Rogers says its prices haven’t changed since Next Issue was launched in Canada in 2013.

Rogers (TSX:RCI.B), publisher of major Canadian consumer magazines, offers the service in partnership with a number of U.S. publishers — Conde Nast, Hearst Magazines, Meredith, News Corp, and Time Inc. — and private equity firm KKR.
