Local business produces map to help Kamloops catch ’em all

KAMLOOPS – If you find yourself wondering where you can find some of the rarest Pokemon, a local business may have the answer for you.

iTel Networks, a Kamloops-based internet and telephone company, has developed a live Pokemon GO index map that identifies and updates locations of Pokemon in Kamloops, according to a Tourism Kamloops media release.

“Our programmers were clearly some of the first in our community to get hooked onto this latest mobile application," iTel Networks COO Dan Rink says in the release. "As a creative and passionate group we immediately saw an opportunity to channel our latest interest into something that could engage everyone around us.”

Tourism Kamloops CEO Beverley DeSantis says the map will help bring people to Kamloops and keep them exporing the city once they are here.

“We were thrilled when iTel came to us with their map and are proud to partner with them to ensure all game enthusiasts have access to the map," she says in the release.

Locals and tourists will find Pokemon on hiking trails, mountain bike paths, throughout the downtown core, at Riverside Park and even throughout local wineries.

DeSantis says the best sight for her so far was watching a family enjoy the city's nightly music in the park series, while the kids hunted for Pokemon.

"The mobile app is bringing people together in a fun new way," she says.

The Pokemon GO index map can be picked up at the Tourism Kamloops Visitor Centre or downloaded at pokemap.itel.com.
