Here’s how police spent the long weekend in Salmon Arm

SALMON ARM – Mounties in Salmon Arm checked numerous boats and vehicles over the long weekend, but reports everyone was, for the most part, well-behaved.

Over the B.C. Day long weekend, Salmon Arm RCMP made a point of hitting local highways, city streets and the portion of the lake they are responsible for, Sgt. Scott West says in a media release.

“RCMP officers checked over 100 boats last week and over the weekend. Thankfully, relatively few boaters were missing their safety equipment. Those missing that key safety equipment were served tickets and escorted ashore,” West says.

A number of vehicles were also stopped and drivers given warnings and tickets, West says. One vehicle was impounded and the driver ticketed for excessive speeding.

“It appears that everyone had a safe long weekend locally,” West says.

Between Friday and Monday, the detachment also responded to more than 100 complaints.
