Tossed beer can costly gesture for Oliver man

PENTICTON – An Oliver man will have to pay his former common-law partner damages after pleading guilty to mischief charges in Penticton court today.

Gerry Lee Casimer will have to pay over $850 for throwing a beer can at his former partner’s vehicle hitting one of the side mirrors, Judge Gale Sinclair ruled today, Aug. 8.

Crown Prosecutor Karla Dodds said Casimer was walking near his residence on August 13, 2015 when his former partner saw him on the road and stopped.

He got in her car and began a conversation which turned into a disagreement. Cassimer exited the Dodge Durango throwing the beer can.

Dodds said Crown was seeking restitution in the matter.

"What is the nature of the relationship today?" asked the judge, to which Casimer replied, "Peaceful, if we stay away from each other."

Judge Sinclair agreed with Crown's request giving Casimer four months to pay the damages in addition to four months probation.
