Kelowna swimmers advance at Olympics in Rio

KELOWNA – Two Kelowna swimmers are making a splash at the Rio Olympics.

Kelowna’s Taylor Ruck, a member of Team Canada’s women’s 4×200 metre freestyle relay team qualified for the final and Kierra Smith has advanced to the 200m breaststroke semi-final today, Aug. 10.

Smith won her heat and placed sixth out of 16 qualifiers in the event at which she won a gold medal at the 2015 Pan Am Games.

She races tonight at 7:11 p.m. and Ruck swims at 7:55 p.m.
