Kelowna Pride March and beach festival at City Park this weekend

KELOWNA – The annual Kelowna Pride March, rally and beach festival is happening this weekend and promises to be a day of celebration, inclusion and fun.

As Pride Week comes to an end this weekend, the Okanagan Pride Society have organized one of the biggest marches yet. Everyone is encouraged to join Kelowna mayor Colin Basran, Penticton mayor Andrew Jakubeit, MP Stephen Fuhr and Premier Christy Clark as they support local members of the LGBT community.

It starts 11 a.m. Saturday morning at Stuart Park where Grand Marshalls Fuhr and the Etcetera Youth Group march along the lakeshore to the North Field of City Park.

There they will open the Festival at the Beach which is an all-day outdoor event featuring live music, vendor fair, beer/wine garden, and pooches on parade.

“The Pride Rally and March is when we all come together and show our city who we are,” the Okanagan Pride Facebook event page says. “This is a time when everyone who identifies as a member of our community and all of our amazing allies come together in solidarity and strength to bring the power of our community to life.”
