Police arrest suspects following targeted home invasion in Summerland

SUMMERLAND – Three arrests have been made after men with masks and weapons invaded a home in Summerland earlier this week.

Summerland RCMP say officers responded to a report of a home invasion in progress in the 9200 block of Alder Road at about 7:45 p.m., Tuesday, Aug. 9.

The homeowner saw a suspicious van drive onto his property. Four people jumping out of the vehicle with masks covering their faces and weapons in hand, according to a RCMP media release. The homeowner and the other people in the house were able to flee out the back door and called police from a neighbour's home.

The suspects were gone by the time police arrived. A description of the suspects and their vehicle were broadcast to neighbouring Okanagan RCMP detachments and the van was spotted at 8:15 p.m. travelling north on Highway 97 in West Kelowna, police say.

The vehicle was stopped and three men aged 25, 33 and 41 were arrested without incident. Police are on the look out for a fourth suspect.

The men arrested appeared before a justice of the peace; two were released on conditions and the third remains in custody.

Police say the general public are not at risk and consider the home invasion a targeted incident.
