Five men with counterfeit American cash arrested in Kamloops

KAMLOOPS – Kamloops RCMP intercepted around $1,500 in counterfeit American money and arrested five young men in connection with the bogus bills this weekend.

RCMP say on Saturday, Aug. 13, police were alerted to men trying to use fake American $100 bills at least three Kamloops businesses. Around 3:40 p.m. they were tipped off that a man tried to use a phoney bill at their store and then got into a cab.

Police located and stopped the cab and arrested five men between 22- and 23-years-old from the Lower Mainland, three of whom were already known to police, according to a RCMP media release. Officers found 15 counterfeit bills on the men.

The suspects are scheduled to appear in court Sept. 12.

The police are asking any local businessperson who accepted or denied suspicious American $100 bills on Saturday, Aug. 13, to contact them at 250-828-3000.
