Woman rescued after becoming mired in Penticton swamp
PENTICTON – An elderly woman apparently out for a walk in Penticton earlier this week had to be rescued after she wandered into a swamp.
Cpl. Don Wrigglesworth says nearby residents and campers at the South Beach Gardens RV Park on Skaha Lake Road heard a woman calling for help early in the morning on Monday, Aug. 15 and called 911.
He says the woman was in a disoriented state when help arrived. She was extricated from the bog, taken to hospital and treated for hypothermia.
Wrigglesworth couldn't say how the woman ended up stuck in the swamp or how long she had been there.
