Receptionist describes shocking moments as car crashes into Kamloops salon

"YOU KNEW SOMETHING WAS COMING THROUGH THOSE WINDOWS."

KAMLOOPS – Kelsey Pierobon had just hung up the phone at the reception desk of Ardeo Salon and Spa in downtown Kamloops when she heard tires screeching on the street.

"As soon as you heard those tires screech, you knew something was coming through those windows," Pierobon says.

Around 10:00 a.m. yesterday, Aug. 16, a car ran a red light at the intersection of 4 Avenue and Seymour Street in downtown Kamloops, and crashed through floor-to-ceiling windows of the salon.

"I just closed my eyes and hoped for the best," Pierobon says. She had her back turned to the window in the moments before the vehicle came through the windows.

A man inside the salon had minor injuries after he was cut by shards of glass.

Ardeo Salon is back open for business but the windows on the south side of the building are boarded up and awaiting repairs.

Two other vehicles collided while trying to avoid the driver who ran the red light, but nobody else was injured, RCMP said.

The driver of the car that ended up in Ardeo Salon was ticketed for failing to stop at a red light.

"You hear about it happening in other places… but you never think it would happen to you," Pierobon says.
