Official: 7 adults, 6 children taken to hospital after van, SUV crash on Baltimore bridge

BALTIMORE – A spokesman for the Baltimore Fire Department says 13 people — including six children — have been taken to hospitals after a crash involving a large van and a sport utility vehicle.

Samuel Johnson tells WBAL-TV (http://bit.ly/1VYtU7i ) the crash happened around 9:20 p.m. Friday on the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Bridge, also known as Hanover Street Bridge.

He says one person had to be extracted from a vehicle after firefighters arrived. The conditions of the 13 patients were not released.

The bridge was temporarily closed in both directions.
