KELOWNA – On Monday, Aug. 29 from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m., weather permitting, Bernard Avenue between Lakeview Street and Burtch Road will be closed to westbound traffic while City crews repave the road.
During this time, there will be no access to Bernard Avenue from Glenmore Road.
After 12 p.m., northbound traffic along Burtch Road will not have access to Bernard Avenue and motorists should plan to use detour routes along Clement Avenue or Highway 97.
Transit users can expect a short-term detour of route #10 North Rutland to downtown. Customers are advised to monitor the BC Transit website Alerts section on the front page and their local stop for closure notices.
Once paving is complete, Bernard Avenue will reopen to two-way traffic Friday, Sept. 2.
The Bernard Avenue water system and road upgrade project, which started in May, included new traffic signals, dedicated right-turn lanes at Burtch Road, sidewalk improvements, watermain installation and sanitary system servicing upgrades.
Finishing work including permanent road markings will be ongoing through September.
The City of Kelowna appreciates the patience of residents, businesses and motorists during construction.
