UPDATE: ‘Vigorous’ wildfire above Peachland now contained
PEACHLAND – Yesterday, Aug. 26, firefighters jumped on a "vigorous" rank two fire west of Peachland somewhere near McCall Creek.
B.C. Wildfire information officer Rachel Witt confirms the fire is now 100 per cent contained.
Fire fighters are now performing mop up procedures and "fire behaviour is minimal," Witt says.
One helicopter and three air tankers responded to support ground crews fighting the one-hectare rank two grass fire.
Firefighters from the Peachland Fire Department responded.
The fire is approximately 1.5 kilometres from Peachland outside their service area but they responded anyway, Witt said.
No structures are threatened.
