Homeless diners sit down to a delectable lobster meal

KELOWNA – The hungry and homeless of Kelowna recently sat down to plates of fresh, Atlantic lobster at the Kelowna Gospel Mission.

The Mission says they were thrilled a courier company thought of them when they had to discard a damaged shipment of lobsters. The lobsters filling two large boxes were broken, but every part was still safe and delicious to eat, so the Mission's cook prepared two large pots of salted, boiling water that was ready to go the moment Pastor Lester arrived with the bounty.

"It took all afternoon to cook them all, and we had to get an extra couple of hands on deck to separate the claws and tails, but it was worth it," Gospel Mission spokesperson Ami Catrioni said in a press release. "Last night, Kelowna's Gospel Mission had a serious seafood fiesta dinner. On the menu, lobster and sole with fresh garden salad, courtesty of an 'accident'."

She said the Mission is grateful every day for the donations provided to them. She said every day there is something diffferent, but never in a million years did they dream of something like lobster.

The Kelowna Gospel Mission provides food and shelter to the homeless and hungry in the city of Kelowna.
