Wolfe Creek fire near Princeton now 75 per cent contained

PENTICTON – A wildfire near Princeton caused the closure of Highway 3 last night.

Fire information officer Rachel Witt says B.C. Wildfire received reports of this fire yesterday evening. The fire is located near Wolfe Creek, 15.5 km east of Princeton.

Witt says the fire is now 75 per cent contained. There are 14 fire fighters on site today and it's estimated at 5 hectares in size.

Yesterday, B.C. Wildfire responded with 18 fire fighters, one helicopter and one piece of heavy equipment. When they arrived, crews established containment, and the helicopter bucketed water.

It started as rank two and today has been reduced to rank one, meaning a smouldering ground fire.
