Jon and Tracey Stewart opening animal sanctuary in New Jersey

LOS ANGELES, Calif. – The former host of “The Daily Show” and his wife are transforming their New Jersey farm into a sanctuary for neglected animals.

Jon and Tracey Stewart announced their plan Saturday while being honoured by the animal advocacy group Farm Sanctuary.

The property in Middletown, New Jersey, will be the fourth sanctuary affiliated with Farm Sanctuary. The organization’s other outposts are in Los Angeles; Orland, California; and Watkins Glen, New York.

Farm Sanctuary was founded in 1986 to combat factory farming and encourage awareness about farm animals.

Jon Stewart ended a 16-year run on Comedy Central’s “The Daily Show” in August. Tracey Stewart is the author of the book “Do Unto Animals.”
