WINNIPEG – The Canadian Football League’s Winnipeg Blue Bombers players have joined a public education campaign aimed at ending violence against women.
The campaign features commercials with Bombers including coach Buck Pierce and cornerback Matt Bucknor.
The Blue Bombers will also lead more than 100 school workshops on the issue.
Premier Greg Selinger says the players are role models who have a chance to teach young people that men don’t commit violence against women.
He says when players treat women with dignity, that’s a strong message for others to behave the same way.
Bombers CEO Wade Miller says violence against women is a men’s issue and he’s proud of the players who have stepped up to participate in the campaign.
