Man wanted in Alberta arrested in Kelowna on weapons charges

KELOWNA – Police are alleging a man wanted in Alberta on property and weapons charges has added to his list with new charges in B.C.

RCMP spokeperson Const. Jesse O’Donaghey says in a press release officers arrested a 31-year-old Kelowna man yesterday, Aug. 30, who tried to pass fake identification when police questioned a group of men in Osprey Park.

O’Donaghey says the man was arrested and found in possession of bear spray, a hunting knife, a bear banger with ammunition and other sets of identification.

The suspect was held in custody and is expected to appear in court today, Aug. 31.

Additional charges could included obstruction, possession of stolen property and assorted weapons charges.

O’Donaghey says the investigation is ongoing and officers will try to return the personal identification to their rightful owners.
