Weaver and Poje out of Canadian championships after Weaver injures ankle

OTTAWA – Kaitlyn Weaver and Andrew Poje of Waterloo, Ont., last year’s national ice dance silver medallists, will miss next month’s 2013 Canadian figure skating championships.

Weaver, 23, injured her left ankle in training on Friday at their training site in Bloomfield Hills, Mich., and was scheduled to undergo surgery in Toronto on Tuesday.

“We wanted to wait until we were sure of the situation, and all the implications before we confirmed what had happened,” Weaver said. “Andrew and I will definitely keep you posted on the results of the surgery and the progress as the weeks unfold.”
