Youth charged with beating security guard as police seek info on others

COQUITLAM, B.C. – A 16-year-old youth has been charged with aggravated assault in connection with the severe beating of a security guard in Port Coquitlam, B.C.

Sixty-five-year-old Hoshiar Singh Bajwa was patrolling a construction site in the suburb just east of Vancouver last October when he was viciously attacked by a group of males.

RCMP Cpl. Jamie Chung says investigators are seeking the public’s help in providing information about others who were involved in the beating.

He says the youth who has been charged is expected to enter a plea at his next court appearance.

Bajwa is still recovering after being beaten repeatedly with a steel pipe.

He suffered a serious eye injury and gashes that required more than 100 stitches.
