SUV seriously damaged after plowing through Kamloops Library

KAMLOOPS – Crews are surrounding the Kamloops Library on the North Shore this afternoon after an elderly man crashed into the building.

B.C. Ambulance is on scene, but Kamloops Fire Rescue Capt. Dale Giffard says the driver walked away uninjured.

Giffard says it's still not known how the man ended up crashing into the library, but no injuries have been reported.

"No one was injured inside the building," Giffard says.

The driver was the only occupant inside the vehicle and the library is still open to the public.

There is some cosmetic damage to the building's bricks and drywall. The car went through the wall near the main entrance, which faces the parking lot just off of Tranquille Road.

The SUV has significant damage to the front end, but Giffard says crews are still looking into how the man ended up driving into the building.
