Elderly man dies in single-vehicle crash near Sicamous

SICAMOUS – An elderly man has died after a single-vehicle crash near Sicamous yesterday.

RCMP says the crash happened yesterday around 3:50 p.m., Sept. 8, on the Trans Canada near Bernie Road.

A driver witnessed an eastbound 2013 grey Jeep Liberty swerve on Highway 1 just west of Sicamous, according to a RCMP media release. The Jeep was then seen driving off the road and down an embankment.

A traffic services officer arrived on scene within minutes and found the Jeep resting on the driver's side in the bush.

A 72-year-old man, the only person in the vehicle, was found inside. Paramedics confirmed he was dead at the scene.

The crash is under investigation.
