Murder trial begins for North Okanagan man

VERNON – Jury selection began this morning for a murder trial into the death of North Okanagan school teacher Linda Ross.

Howard Everett Krewson is charged with second degree murder in relation to her death in June 2014. He is accused of committing the offence with a firearm.

The Vernon Courthouse was full of people today, Sept. 12, as jury selection got underway for Krewson’s trial, which is scheduled for three weeks before Supreme Court Justice Frank Cole.

Crown counsel Shirley Meldrum said she will call 14 witnesses and anticipates defence will call four.

Krewson appeared in court dressed in a collared shirt and showed little expression as the charge against him was read aloud. He is being defended by lawyer Donna Turko.

Jury selection will continue throughout the day.
