Vernon woman sentenced in massive Saskatchewan drug bust

VERNON – A 19-year-old Vernon woman pleaded guilty to her role in a massive cross-border cocaine trafficking operation this week in Swift Current, Saskatchewan.

Shae Marjorie Jager is the most recent North Okanagan resident to be sentenced after police executed the largest drug roundup Saskatchewan has ever seen. The bust resulted in the seizure of hundreds of kilograms of cocaine, 1.3 million tablets of ecstacy, and the arrests of 17 people in Canada and the U.S. The group's ringleader, 26-year-old Brock Palfrey, has already been sentenced to 18 years in prison, though the Crown is hoping to have that increased to 25 years.

Jager was set to begin a preliminary hearing this week, but instead chose to plead guilty to extortion and conspiracy to traffic cocaine, crimes which earned her a 12 month probation.

Lumby resident Dion Clowry, 34, is also charged with conspiracy to traffic in cocaine, but after failing to make a court date in March, a warrant has been issued for his arrest.
