Logging truck catches fire on Highway 97 north of Winfield

LAKE COUNTRY – Lake Country firefighters hosed down the burning cab of a fully-loaded logging truck on the new stretch of Highway 97 about 4 kilometres north of Winfield Monday morning.

The flames destroyed the cab but didn't spread to the logs.

No word if anyone was hurt, but traffic is backed up southbound on the highway.

The route was closed while crews put out the fire in the cab and it has since re-opened to single lane traffic.

No other vehicles were involved in the incident.
